Directions

From Kikomun Bridge to Sunshine Marina

  1. Cross the Kikomun Bridge (AKA Bailey Bridge) which spans Lake Koocanusa. This is just a short distance from Kikomun Creek Provincial Park.
  2. You will then continue past the Koocanusa Marina store (on the left) after you cross the bridge.
  3. Take the first left hand turn onto Newgate Road, you will see a Sunshine Houseboat Vacations sign on this corner.
  4. Travel approximately 29km (18mi) to the Sunshine Marina entrance, which is a left turn off the main road (indicated by a sign).
  5. Lastly, take the access road to the main parking lot.

* Please note: when you are travelling on Newgate road, you will know you are very close when you see a sign that says “Gold Bay Recreational Site”. Once you see this sign we suggest you slow down because our turn off is of the same and is just on the corner ahead.

Directions from Montana
  • Travel North on highway 93 to Baynes Lake Road which is a left hand turn off the highway heading towards Baynes Lake township. Go through Baynes Lake Township until you reach a stop sign (Kikomun Newgate Road).
  • Make a left hand turn. Follow this road until you see Kikomun Creek Provincial Park on your left hand side. Continue past Kikomun and you will cross Kikomun Bridge which spans Lake Koocanusa (formally known as Bailey bridge).
  • After the bridge, you will see a store/campground (Koocanusa Marina) on the left hand side. Continue past the store and take the first left hand turn, Newgate Road. There is a Sunshine Houseboat Vacations sign on this corner.
  • You will travel approximately 29 KM to our Sunshine Marina’s entrance, which is a left turn off the main road (indicated by a sign). Follow the access road to the main parking lot.

Directions from Crowsnest
  • Follow Hwy. 3 through the Crowsnest Pass to Fernie, (Fernie is the last “major” stop before the lake).Continue on Highway 3 past Elko, past the 3/93 turnoff to the USA. You will go down a hill and at the bottom will be a sign that states “Sunshine Houseboat Vacations”, (Kikomun Rd) turn left.
  • Follow this road until you see Kikomun Creek Provincial Park on your left hand side. Continue past Kikomun and you will cross Kikomun Bridge which spans Lake Koocanusa (formally known as Bailey bridge).
  • After the bridge, you will see a store/campground (Koocanusa Marina) on the left hand side. Continue past the store and take the first left hand turn, Newgate Road. There is a Sunshine Houseboat Vacations sign on this corner.

Directions from Cranbrook
  • Cranbrook which is the last “major” stop before the lake. Travel Hwy. 3/93. towards Fernie. You will pass Wardner, cross the Kootenay River, and continue toward Jaffray. Just as you are slowing down to come into Jaffray (very small town) you will see a sign on the highway that says Kikomun Creek
  • Provincial Park and then you will see a road to the right. It is the Jaffray/Baynes Lake Road. Turn right and follow that road over the train tracks and continue until you reach a stop sign. Turn right at the stop sign.
  • Continue past Kikomun Creek provincial Park and you will cross Kikomun Bridge which spans Lake Koocanusa (formally known as Bailey bridge).
  • After the bridge, you will see a store/campground (Koocanusa Marina) on the left hand side. Continue past the store and take the first left hand turn, Newgate Road. There is a Sunshine Houseboat Vacations sign on this corner.

Directions from Idaho Border
  • Travel North on Hywy 95 towards Canada. From Bonners Ferry you will travel up the mountain until you
    reach the Kingsgate/Eastport border crossing.
  • On the Canadian side you will pass Yahk and Moyie before entering Cranbrook which is the last “major” stop before the lake. We have a Wal-Mart Super Center, Real Canadian Superstore, Safeway and a Save-On-Foods that are open daily from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Travel Hwy. 3/93. towards Fernie. You will pass Wardner, cross the Kootenay River, and continue toward Jaffray. Directions from Fort Steele
  • When you reach the town of Fort Steele you will notice a store/gas station on your left hand side. This road is called Wardner Fort Steele Road. Turn left on this road and follow it until you reach a stop sign that is located on Hwy 3/93.
  • If you do not turn it will lead to Cranbrook. Cranbrook is the last “major” stop before the lake. We have a Wal-Mart Super Center, Real Canadian Superstore, Safeway and a Save-On-Foods that are open daily from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.
